Same Power

This song has been a powerful reminder for me during our journey in Uganda. I can’t help but stop and sing when it comes on my worship playlist. We have been incredibly blessed by so much prayer, encouragement and support along the way, and we have felt God with us throughout everything.

I can see waters raging at my feet.
I can feel the breath of those surrounding me.
I can hear the sound of nations rising up.
We will not be overtaken.
We will not be overcome.

I can walk down this dark and painful road.
I can face every fear of the unknown.
I can hear all God’s children singing out.
We will not be overtaken.
We will not be overcome.

The same power that rose Jesus from the grave;
The same power that commands the dead to wake
Lives in us, lives in us.
The same power that moves mountains when He speaks;
The same power that can calm a raging sea
Lives in us, lives in us.
He lives in us, lives in us.

We have hope that His promises are true.
In His strength, there is nothing we can’t do.
Yes, we know there are greater things in store.
We will not be overtaken.
We will not be overcome.

Greater is He that is living in me.
He’s conquered our enemy.
No power of darkness,
No weapon prevails.
We stand here in victory.

I find myself singing this song when I’m praying over our home, praying for our ministry relationships, praying for the people we are coming in contact with, praying over Adalyn before she goes to bed, praying for Leland and our marriage.

“We will not be overtaken. We will not be overcome.” I sometimes yell this at satan on those difficult, frustrating days where nothing is going right and everything is so overwhelming. I don’t know if he backs off or if it’s the screaming, but I definitely feel better about things afterwards. What a powerful statement that my God who has conquered everything lives in me.

I can make it through the good days and the bad days. I can make the easy choices and the tough decisions because my God is leading me. Praise God for His power! And praise God that we are called His children and He fights for us.
