Adalyn made the decision to be baptized last month – May 28th, 2025! We are so thankful for her growing faith and for her commitment! We are so thankful for salvation given to us from Christ’s sacrifice! And we are so thankful we were able to share the event with close friends. Adalyn shares about her baptism and what it all means to her…
It all began when I started asking questions about baptism before we went to Israel two years ago. We discussed what it means to be baptized and what following Jesus means. I was still unsure whether or not I was ready to commit my life to Jesus, but going to Israel really encouraged me. I went to the places that Jesus talked about baptism and where Jesus talked about what it meant to follow him. Honestly, I don’t remember a lot of the specific conversations that happened on that trip but I remember being moved to think and pray more about baptism. In the discussions that I had with my parents, my dad gave me something to think about: “Why now?” And my reply was, “So that I can share The Gospel and the love of God while I still am in Uganda.”
My mom asked “How are you going to do that?” I prayed on that for quite some time and I decided that I was going to act more like Jesus in loving my neighbor as myself, not just people who are friends also people who are difficult. And being kind to strangers. I also want to help out in the kids class at our church. I have been asked to play drums again at our church, so that will happen soon, maybe more often. That is a way I can share Jesus through music and worship.
On the day of my baptism, I prayed so hard that it wouldn’t rain and it didn’t. It rained right after I got baptized! And I mean a full downpour. I felt loved by all the friends that came and congratulated me. It was a nice time to be reminded of all the love and support I have received here in Uganda. I have grown up with most of the people who celebrated with me on my baptism day.
The day before I went on a bike ride with my friends Isabel, Grace, and Marley. As we were reached the bottom of this big hill, Marley stops and looks at me. She asked me if she could take pictures for me at my baptism. She took excellent photos and I am so thankful for her. The first time I took communion was cool. I was so excited to be part of this tradition. Both my parents went up to the table with me, and I almost dropped the cup! I am now part of God’s wonderful family. That is what baptism means to me!

I am so proud of you, Adalyn. I know you don’t know me, but I pray for your family’s mission and for you. May God bless you in your life in Him!
