This past weekend we were blessed to spend time with my family in the Dallas area. We spent four days at my parents house and celebrated Valentine’s Day with a double date with my parents – teenagers BE ON GUARD…you CAN be friends with your parents! (It’s amazing!) But that’s not the point. The point is that at several different times this weekend I was reminded of the cost of following Jesus. For us, following Jesus where He is leading means moving to the other side of the world. And that means moving away from all of our family. That’s not easy. Continue reading

What’s Worry Got To Do With It?
While many of you have only had a few months, a few weeks or even a few days to process our decision to become missionaries in Uganda, God has been working on our hearts for a few years. And while we are at peace with God’s call, there have still been many doubts, questions, fears, worries.

Be Strong and Courageous
Last night I had the privilege of sharing a devotional thought with the Elders at the Belton Church of Christ. I simply shared a short passage that has been resonating for me the past few months. It’s nothing new. It’s well known and well studied. In fact, this passage has been a reminder for our family (Gina actually reflected on it HERE). New beginnings

We are so blessed to have a great support system and are thankful to continue our journey Continue reading
Let’s get started
We went to a Support-Raising Solutions boot camp in December 2014 and what a great experience to learn more about the importance of partner-raising as well as receiving tools to be successful in building a team of supporters to join us in this journey.
We also realized we needed some materials to communicate our vision and work in Uganda. We are blessed by Nicole Holmes Continue reading
Who am I to go?
Starting about 4 years ago, we began asking ourselves a very challenging and uncomfortable question: “Is God calling us to serve Him on a foreign mission field?” It’s no secret that we have always held missions and reaching the lost as central to the call to follow Jesus. We have regularly taken personal mission trips and increased the scope and focus of missions within youth ministry.
But when we started asking ourselves this question, the dynamic changed. For a few years we found reasons to put off this question, but time and time again, we felt this question resurface. Through conversations with friends, mentors, Continue reading
